Real Madrid defensive midfielder, Sami Khedira recently announced that he has reached an important stage in his recovery from reconstructive knee surgery, stating that he believes that he could be back to training in two to three weeks.

In an interview with ZDF Sportstudio, Khedira stated that he could be back in training but refused to put pressure on himself.

“It’s possible that in two to three weeks I’ll be able to train normally with the team.  I have a very deep inner optimism, but I refuse to put pressure on myself. ”

Khedira went on to add that he hopes to make it back in time to join Germany for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“If I don’t make it back to the World Cup, Ill be sad.  I keep fighting and everything is directed towards that.

“I’m following the plan of the medical staff and coaches. I’m not worried about what will happen in two months.”

Khedira concluded by stating that he has hired a psychiatrist to help him with the mental recover needed to perform at a top club like Real Madrid.

“Success is in the mind.  I’m going back to Real Madrid, more independent and mature.”
