Duda: It’s a shame the referee didn’t see it clearly

Málaga captain Duda felt Pepe got off very lightly, after a knee-high tackle with studs showing, could have caused him a lot more harm.

Pepe catched Duda on the knee with studs, but stayed on the pitch.

Speaking to Canal Plus after the 0-1 defeat against Real Madrid, the first question Duda was asked, was regarding an awful challenge from Pepe, that the referee completely failed to notice, but produced a yellow card for the Málaga captain for his understandable complaints.

Duda believes his opponent was very lucky to get away with it, whilst also hinting that his opponents escaped cautions on more than one occasion.

“It’s one of those things that happens in football and it’s a shame the referee didn’t see it clearly. It seems cards were only going in the one direction.”

Asked for his sensations about the result, Duda was understandably disappointed his team hadn’t taken a more positive result.

“We’ve created good chances playing against the leaders, the team that are playing better than anyone, but it wasn’t to be for us today.”

Despite the defeat, Duda remains positive that with similarly strong performances, his team will win enough games to earn their stay in the Primera.

“It’s a shame, we were doing well and we have to keep going like this. Playing like this, we’ll reach safety and that’s our aim. The wins will come.”
