Cruciate ligament injury rules out Tissone for Málaga
Málaga midfielder Fernando Tissone, a key figure in the team this season, will now face a lengthy rehabilitation process having suffered a cruciate ligament injury in his right knee.
Forced to retire early from training on Wednesday, coaching and medical staff feared the worst for central midfielder Fernando Tissone, after he broke down with a knee injury.
Málaga immediately sent the player for further medical examinations and their fears were confirmed. Tissone has suffered a cruciate ligament tear in his right knee and will now face 6-8 months out of action.
An unfortunate blow for the player, who has been an important part of manager Bernd Schuster’s plans this season, having counted on the 27-year-old Argentine in 28 matches this season, in both La Liga and Copa del Rey.
The injury will require surgical intervention to repair the damaged ligament, although no date has yet been announced by the club at this stage. Depending on the success of an operation, the player will then face a lengthy road to recovery and could even miss the start of next season.
