Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis is optimistic that the club can convince Liverpool loanee and Spanish international goalkeeper, Pepe Reina to make a permanent move to southern Italy this summer.

In a recent interview following their 2-0 win over Juventus, De Laurentiis admitted that he told Reina that the club wants him to stay on and that they will try to make the 31-year-old’s loan move a permanent one.

“After yesterday’s victory I went down to the locker room and I promised the players a bonus if they can finish second.

“Then I talked to Reina and told him that he must remain with us. I want him confirmed for next season.

“He was happy, for him it was a double reward.”

Reina has admitted that his Liverpool days are behind him, but is keeping all of his options open this summer, as he looks to sort his future before the World Cup, with a possible move to Spain being rumoured as the likeliest destination.
