Champions League highlights: Gareth Bale goal vs Borussia Dortmund (1-0)

by Tom Conn | Posted on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014

Last year’s Champions League semi-final loss to Borussia Dortmund forced Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez to look inside himself and the club’s coffers and make the biggest transfer in football history, acquiring Gareth Bale from Tottenham.

Florentino must be over the moon and is investment, while it has not fully appreciated in value, is paying dividends in the form revenge, with Bale scoring the opening goal of their Champions League quarterfinal match against Borussia Dortmund in the first three minutes, bursting past defenders and tapping the ball into the back of the net.

Bale also becomes the first Welsh player to score three goals in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.  How’s that for a feather in your cap.
