Atletico Madrid join race for Hamburg’s Hakan Çalhanoğlu
Atletico Madrid are reportedly prepared to battle a host of English Premier League giants for the rights to Hamburg’s 20-year-old midfielder, Hakan Çalhanoğlu.
According to German newspaper, Hamburger Morgenpost, Atletico Madrid and Juventus were both seen scouting the Turkish international, with the report adding that Los Colchoneros would be interested in signing the Turkish international as a direct replacement for their current Turkish international, Arda Turan, who has been linked with a move away from the Vicente Calderon this summer.
Çalhanoğlu has been praised for his versatility and playmaking ability, just like Turan and is likely to make a move this summer as Hamburg may be relegated and forced to sell the rising star.
The midfielder originally sign a four-year deal he signed with the German side from Karlsruher SC in the summer of 2012, but recently renewed it, keeping him with the club until 2018.
Çalhanoğlu has been linked with not only Atletico Madrid and Juventus, but Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool for next season.
