Pep Guardiola wants to bring Athletic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte to Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich manager, Pep Guardiola has reportedly set his sights on adding Athletic Bilbao centre-back, Aymeric Laporte to the two-time Bundesliga champions this summer and will offer €20 million for the player’s services.
According to Kicker magazine, Bayern, after plucking Javi Martinez from Athletic Club Bilbao two years ago, will once more try and negotiate for their young, French cantera product, Laporte.
Laporte has been a stalwart in Ernesto Valverde’s back line this season, with the 19-year-old playing a crucial role in the team’s current fourth place, Champions League qualifying standing in the La Liga table.
Despite the fact that Bayern are willing to offer €20 million, Laporte recently signed a contract extension until 2018 and with it, raised his release clause to €36 million.
Athletic, as was the case with Javi Martinez before him, are unwilling to negotiate for one of the players they consider to be a cornerstone of their future and will only sell if the release clause is triggered and not for a centimo less.
