Alexis Sanchez’s agent denies reported pre-Copa del Rey dressing room row with Tata Martino
Barcelona winger, Alexis Sanchez reportedly got into it with manager Tata Martino ahead of the Copa del Rey final as the Chilean international was assured by the Argentinean coach that he would start in the final, but in the end, was left on the bench.
According to Spanish sports daily, Sport, Sanchez then told off Martino, calling him ‘spineless’ and was so incensed by the end of the match, that he refused to stay on the pitch and receive the Commemorative Medal and applaud Real Madrid, even after both Carles Puyol and the club’s delegate Carlos tried to convince him.
Following what appears to be a following out between the two men, rumours of Alexis’ departure from the club has started to accelerate and while there is as of yet no indication that the club is interested in selling him, the player is suggested to be looking for a move if things don’t improve or get resolved.
However, the player’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, per Alexis himself, issued a statement “categorically denying” the reports.
“After speaking with Alexis, he requested that I categorically deny the version of events pertaining to an altercation with the manager of FCB. Throughout his 10 year career, he’s never at any point had any problem with his coaches, much less insult them. He’s always been a consummate professional.”
