Gameiro doubtful for Europa League final with knee sprain
Sevilla striker, Kevin Gameiro could be ruled out of next week’s Europa League final against Benfica in Turin, Italy after the Frenchman sprained his medical ligament in his right knee.
According to the club’s official website, Gameiro underwent extensive medical tests on Saturday afternoon and was ruled out of Sunday evening’s match against Getafe due to the injury.
The statement went on to read that the club’s medical staff will continue to monitor the situation, but it is indeed doubtful that the 27-year-old will be given medical clearance ahead of Wednesday’s historic final.
Should Gameiro not feature, Colombian striker Carlos Bacca will take his place and look to boost his chances of making it to the 2014 World Cup by leading the Andalusians to victory.
