Sevilla captain, Ivan Rakitic is confident his side can challenge and beat Benfica in the Champions League final, while also remaining coy on rumoured interest from Real Madrid.

In an interview with Kicker magazine, Rakitic spoke about the Europa League final and the attributed they possess.

“The entire city is excited about this match. Benfica may have more experience, but there are no favorites. They lost the Europa League final last year and we have to put pressure on them, make them nervous. We no longer have players like Luis Fabiano, we are a team in transition, but are hungry and we are young.”

Rakitic went on to discuss life in Sevilla and the rumours that he is close to a move to Real Madrid.

“My life changed permanently when I came here. I’ve grown, I’ve become a father, I’ve experienced wonderful things. The Rakitic now has very little in common with the one before.

“Real Madrid? We should wait for this Europa League final, also for the World Cup final, then we’ll see. This year we have taken a great step forward, but it’s the great goal for every player to play in the Champions League.”
