In his post-match interview, Bartomeu repeated his previous statements that the club would undergo a makeover after what has been one of the most disappointing seasons over the past six years, but doesn’t believe it’s the end of an era.

“Some players will not continue with the club, but this will continue.  Our style of play remains the same.  This cycle will continue but with massive changes.

“For weeks, we’ve been preparing a new sports project.  There are many advanced topics that we will announce within the next several weeks.”

Bartomeu then spoke about the contract renewal of Leo Messi, which the club announced on Friday.

“Leo will stay with the club, which is what we wanted.”

Bartomeu concluded by congratulating Atletico Madrid for their deserved title win.

“Atletico Madrid deserved to win La Liga and today, they showed that once again.  We built teams to win everything or at least get to the finals.  We reached the Copa del Rey and the La Liga final and we failed.  We have not met any of our goals.”
