Javier Mascherano reportedly wants €4.5m per season at Napoli
Barcelona defensive midfielder-turned-centre-back, Javier Mascherano is likely to leave the club this summer with Napoli being the front-runners for the Argentine’s services, but the Italian Serie A side could be turned away by the player’s wage demands.
According to Italian sports daily, Il Corriere dello Sport, Mascherano has responded to Napoli’s advances by stating he’d like €4.5 million per season.
The report goes on to add that Mascherano’s agent, Walter Tamer will travel to the south of Italy next week to negotiate the terms of his deal, including the wages, before the two sides negotiate the transfer fee.
Napoli president, Aurelio Del Laurentiis is still optimistic that they can land the former Liverpool star, but admit that negotiations with be difficult.
“We want Mascherano, but the negotiations with Barcelona are going to be difficult. They will sell at a very high price.”
