Neymar: I don’t know why I’m still being booed

Barcelona winger, Neymar can’t understand why he is being booed by the fans while on international duty with Brazil ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

In his post-match interview following a 1-0 win over Serbia, Neymar spoke about the boos he received at the Morumbi stadium and why as a player representing Brazil, the fans are still judging him by what he did at Santos, before moving to Barcelona last summer.

“I don’t understand why I was booed.  The Brazilian fans have certain prejudices for players who have played for another team.  The rivalry is intense sometimes, but now I’m wearing the shirt of Brazil, like my other national teammates.  Now more than ever we need the fans behind us and they have to understand that here and now, we’re not from Santos, Corinthians, Sao Paulo or another other team.”

Neymar is expected, by the international press, to be the star of the World Cup, but the 22-year-old has been booed in each friendly Brazil has played.
