Petrescu: Xavi has signed a pre-contract with Al-Arabi
Al-Arabi coach, Dan Petrescu has confirmed that Barcelona midfielder, Xavi Hernandez has signed a pre-contract agreement to join the Qatari side next season.
Xavi was rumoured over the past several weeks to have a deal in place, but it was purely speculation until it was finally confirmed by Petrescu on Tuesday.
In an interview with Digisport, Petrescu confirmed the pre-contract, which will pay the Barcelona star 8.3 million euros per season on a three-year deal.
“Xavi has signed a pre-contract with Al Arabi.
“Xavi probably has offers from other clubs too, I spoke to him.”
Football agent, Bayram Tutumlu also confirmed to Spanish sports daily, Marca that Xavi had received a lucrative offer and provided monetary details.
“They assured me that he has received an offer to play for three seasons earning a net figure of 8.3 million euros for each one. I was even told that a contract had been signed, although I didn’t actually see it.”
Cesc Fabregas eluded to the fact that Xavi was set for a depature in an interview with Marca via ESPN.
“Xavi and Puyol have decided to take a step aside, to be closer to their families, to get away from such demanding paths. Victor [Valdes] and I took personal decisions.”
ESPN goes on to add that Xavi’s agent met with Barcelona executives to discuss the Spanish international’s future and will accept what ever decision he makes.
