Portuguese international defender, Fabio Coentrao touched down in Portugal on Thursday afternoon, after being forced to withdraw from the 2014 World Cup with a hamstring tear and the Real Madrid star is confident that his side will beat the US and Ghana and advance in the group.

In his brief interview with reporters at the airport, Coentrao remained confident in his side and is certain that Cristiano Ronaldo will have a great performance against the US.

“I think my teammates will bring us joy and Cristiano will have his day against the United States.

“Of course, after a 4-0 loss, things are more complicated, but the atmosphere within the camp is still great and on Sunday, we shall overcome.”

Coentrao went on to add that “Cristiano is the best player in the world,” and dismissed rumours that the Ballon d’Or was still unfit.

Portugal face the United States on Sunday, before facing Ghana later on to round of their group.
