Real Oviedo present Esteban in front of 3,000 ‘Oviedistas’

Former Almeria goalkeeper, ‘Esteban’ Andrés Suárez finally made his way back home and after the club announced the deal several weeks ago, the 38-year-old was officially presented on Thursday, in front of a crowd of 3,000 cheering ‘Oviedistas’.

According to the club’s official website, the fans began piling in the lower bowl of the Carlos Tartiere around 19:30 and hung banners saying ‘Bienvenido Esteban’, before the goalkeeper stepped onto the pitch at 20:30 and was met be cheers and applause.

Esteban played for Real Oviedo from 1997-2002, making 182 appearances before moving on to short spells with Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Celta Vigo, before landing in Almeria in 2008, making  140 appearances and helping to lead them to the Primera and keeping them there, before returning to his first major club 12 years later.
