Arsenal to make €40 million offer for Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal will reportedly make a €40 million offer to Barcelona for Chilean winger, Alexis Sanchez.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal had expressed interest and prepared a bid prior to the 2014 World Cup and met with the player’s agent Fernando Felicevich to gauge the player’s interest over a possible move, as they look to torpedo potential bids from the likes of Juventus, Liverpool and Manchester United.
Alexis was linked with a move to Liverpool as part of a package deal that would bring Luis Suarez to the Camp Nou, but neither Liverpool nor Manchester United have submitted bid or requested information on the player’s availability.

Arsenal’s bid would far supersede that of Juventus’ offer of €18 million, but the convenient timing of the report (immediately following the elimination of Chile in the 2014 World Cup) leaves many to question the validity.

As of publication, Juventus have been the only team to have submitted a bid, but that has yet to be confirmed by either club.
