Oblak passes Atlético medical, set to complete move from Benfica
Atlético Madrid have won the race to sign 21-year-old keeper Jan Oblak from Benfica, after the Slovenian underwent a medical on Monday, according to local reports.
Having been considered the favourites to capture the signing of Jan Oblak, it now appears Atlético Madrid will indeed complete their move for the goalkeeper, after Cadena COPE journalist Antonio Ruiz revealed that the 21-year-old has passed a medical with the club.
The move is now set to be completed within a matter of hours, with Atlético Madrid paying a fee of around €20 million to Benfica, for the keeper they see as their replacement for Thibaut Courtois, who returned to Chelsea at the orders of José Mourinho.
Oblak is due to sign his paperwork shortly, with official announcements expected from both Atlético Madrid and Benfica due to follow.
This will signify that Diego Simeone has his goalkeeper pairing ready for the start of the new season, having already landed Miguel Ángel Moya from Getafe.
