Antoine Griezmann rejects contract extension with Real Sociedad
Real Sociedad winger Antoine Griezmann has reportedly turned down an offer from the club to sign a contract renewal, which could see the French star leave the Basque club this summer.
Real Sociedad recently reached an agreement with Arsenal over the permanent move of Carlos Vela, who then signed a long contract with the Basque club to ensure his future remains at Anoeta.
The club’s second priority was to extend the contract of star winger Antoine Griezmann after he returned from the World Cup, but things have not gone well for La Real.
According to a report from Spanish daily paper AS, Griezmann has rejected the club’s offer of extending his contract until 2018 and is focused on trying to find a bigger club to move to this summer.
It is believed that Griezmann wants to test himself at a higher level and that he is already looking for new clubs, with Real Madrid and PSG highly interested, meaning Real Sociedad will have to listen to offers if that is the case.
Griezmann’s current contract is set to expire in 2016 so the club can wait until next summer to negotiate an exit, but would likely not get nearly as much in return if they wait until the last year of his contract.
To this point, Real Sociedad have refused to negotiate a transfer of Griezmann with any club, only pointing interested parties to his €30 million buy-out clause.
