Cristian Tello to join Porto on loan
Barcelona winger Cristian Tello is set to join Portuguese giants Porto on a loan deal, which could include an option to buy, with manager Julen Lopetegui convinced that the 22-year-old will be a strong addition.
It has been clear for some time now that Cristian Tello would be leaving Barcelona, with the 22-year-old having barely played over the last two seasons, and the Catalan club looking to add even more attacking depth this summer.
For the past few weeks, rumors have suggested that Tello could be joining Portuguese giants Porto, after former Spain U-21 manager Julen Lopetegui, who worked extensively with Tello, took over as the Porto manager.
Now it appears as though those rumors have come to fruition, with Spanish daily paper AS reporting that Tello will be joining Porto this summer on a one-year loan deal, which could also include the option to buy the 22-year-old at the end of the season.
It is believed that Lopetegui’s relationship with Tello was a major selling point for everyone involved in the transfer, and that the former Spain U-21 coach could be looking elsewhere in his home country for more talent.
AS also reports that Porto have peaked interest in Osasuna keeper Andres Fernandez and could be willing to make an opening offer in the coming days.
