Sevilla announce signing of Alejandro Arribas
Sevilla have officially announced that once he’s passed his medical, 25-year-old central defender Alejandro Arribas will sign a two-year contract with the club.
Patience certainly seems to have been a virtue for Sevilla, who had a bid rejected by Osasuna last summer. Now they’ve managed to land the central defender on a free transfer, after he agreed to rescind his contract and pardon his former club, all outstanding wages he was owed.
Arribas will undergo his medical and formalise the move by signing his two-year contract on Monday, before linking up with the rest of the squad in Neuruppin, at their pre-season base in Germany.
Getafe and Elche had both been keen to sign Arribas, but once Sevilla showed their interest in the player once more, their offer was too good for him to refuse.
Arribas started his career with lower league Madrid based side, Rayo Majadahonda, before moving to Rayo Vallecano. After two seasons with their B team, he forged his way into the first-team at Vallecas, before heading to Osasuna, where he’s spent the last two campaigns.
