Atletico Madrid preparing new Jose Callejón bid after training ground bust-up
Atletico Madrid are reportedly preparing new bid for Napoli striker, Jose Callejón after training ground bust-up with manager Rafa Benitez.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Benitez and Callejon got into a bust-up at training after the Spanish coach felt the former Real Madrid scorer was not concentrating during drills, which may have permanently affected the relationship between the two.
Atletico Madrid made a €21 million bid for the 27-year-old earlier this summer, but was immediately rejected as Napoli are standing firm on their €30 million asking price.
Atleti manager, Diego Simeone like Callejon’s versatility and is hoping that following this most recent incident, the player would push for a lower price as he attempts to leave the club.
Meanwhile, the La Liga champions have once again set their sights on Spanish international midfielder, Santi Cazorla, who would be brought in to compete with Koke and Arda Turan, while also adding depth for their upcoming Champions League and Copa del Rey runs.
