Eibar confirm signings of Dani Nieto and Borja Ekiza
Eibar have moved to sign winger Dani Nieto, following his release by Barcelona, plus central defender Borja Ekiza, who also joins on a free transfer from Athletic Club Bilbao.
Eibar continue to strengthen the squad, ahead of their first campaign in the Primera. On Thursday, the Basque club announced they had made two further signings, with the arrivals of 23-year-old Dani Nieto from Barca B, along with 26-year-old Borja Ekiza from Athletic Club Bilbao.
Dani Nieto, a left winger, joins Eibar on a two-year deal, having been released on a free transfer, following a season with Barca B, who signed him last summer from Alcorcón. Although he hasn’t any top-flight experience as yet, he has made 89 appearances and scored 17 goals over the last three seasons in the Segunda, with Barca B, Alcorcón and Girona.
Borja Ekiza, a central defender, joins Eibar on an initial one-year contract and also on a free transfer, although Athletic Club Bilbao have reserved an option to re-sign him at the end of the 2014-2015 season, having agreed to rescind what remained of his current contract on Thursday. Regular first-team opportunities were difficult for Ekiza last season and he made just one appearance each, in La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
Eibar have also announced that whilst Dani Nieto will be officially presented to the media, at a press conference of Friday, Borja Ekiza has yet to undergo his medical and complete his paperwork, so his presentation will be announced in due course.
