Arsenal could derail Wolfsburg’s €15m bid for Atletico Madrid’s Josuha Guilavogui
Atletico Madrid defensive midfielder, Josuha Guilavogui, who spent last season at his previous club Saint Etienne, is reportedly set to join German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg on a €15 million transfer, but a late intervention by Arsenal could put the player in London.
According to Spanish sports daily, AS, Simeone does not see Guilavogui in his future plans and look to sell the player for €14.5 million, while retaining 10% of his rights, making a €2.5 million profit after buying the Frenchman for €12 million last summer.
Atletico Madrid are considering the sale due to the fact that Mario Suarez, Thiago, Gabi are all returning this season and with Saul coming back from his loan spell with Rayo, there is no opportunity for the 23-year-old to get minutes.
However, according to various sources in England, Arsenal are also ready to match Wolfsburg’s bid, leaving it up to the player decide his own fate.
Benfica were also said to be interested but have fallen out of the race as they cannot compete with the figures being offered by the other sides.
