Almeria sign Espanyol’s Thievy on a season-long loan

Almeria have pulled off the most shocking signing of the summer, announcing the loan for Espanyol’s Thievy Bifouma, after it seemed that the Catalan’s had already reached an agreement with Malaga for the Congolese international.


In a statement released by Almeria late Wednesday evening, the club confirmed the signing of the 22-year-old on a season-long loan.

Thievy will be playing for Almeria after the club reached an agreement with Espanyol to take the player on a season-long loan. The Franco-Congolese footballer was sought out by several teams in the Spanish First Division and from other countries, but has finally decided to join Almeria, in a deal that was finalised late Wednesday night.”

Malaga appeared to be the front-runners to land Thievy, with local reports stating that the two clubs had already reached a transfer agreement.
