Sevilla have reached an agreement, believed to be worth €2.5 million, for Valencia midfielder Ever Banega, pending a successful medical.

In an announcement via the club’s official website, Sevilla confirmed the highly-anticipated transfer of the Argentine international.

“Ever Banega (Rosario, Argentina, June 29, 1988) could become FC Sevilla’s newest player, if he passes the standard medical exams in the coming hours and signs the official documents. Sevilla FC and Valencia have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of the Argentinian midfielder on Sunday afternoon.”

Banega has made it clear that his desire was to not only leave Valencia, but join Sevilla, as his father confirmed to the media on Saturday.

“Everything is very advanced now and it’s true, he’s very close to joining Sevilla. Hopefully it will happen, because they’re a great club who are always fighting to achieve great things.

“He’s really grateful to Valencia for opening to doors to European football for him, but he’s now completed a cycle there and is very enthusiastic about playing for Sevilla.”

Banega becomes Sevilla’s eighth signing this summer, joining Aleix Vidal, Iago Aspas, Krychowiak, Barbosa, Arribas, Denis Suárez and Gerard Deulofeu.
