Levante beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0 to secure a place in the Europa League, whilst Malaga beat relegated Sporting Gijon to reach the Champions League.

Athletic Bilbao looked uninterested as they travelled to Levante knowing that they already had a place in the Europa League but it was the hosts who needed three points to secure an unlikely place too.

Abdel Ghezzal put them in-front after a brilliant right footed shot from outside the area and the lead was doubled when Jose Barkero found Ghezzal, who slotted the ball past Athletic keeper Gorka Iraizoz.

Francisco Farinos scored from the spot with two minutes remaining to send Levante fifth and into Europe.

Further down south, Malaga had to beat Sporting Gijon to secure a Champions League place and they did through a Salomon Rondon goal.

Already relegated Sporting held the Andalusians until the 49th minute when Santi Cazorla’s corner was nodded in by Rondon.

The result means they finish fourth behind Valencia, whilst Sporting will play the Segunda next season.
