Khedira leaves squad ahead of Friday’s Spanish Super Cup tie, seen watching brother in Germany
Real Madrid defensive midfielder, Sami Khedira was named to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad ahead of the 2nd leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Friday evening, but the player was spotted on Friday afternoon in Germany, watching his brother play for second division side, Leipzig.
According to Spanish sports daily, AS, Khedira flew to Leipzig on Friday and was spotted watching his brother Rani face Erzgebeirge Aue at Red Bull Arena without permission from the club.
Khedira is in the final year of his contract and has been rumoured to be on his way out of the club after not having played a single pre-season match, and his latest gesture seems to suggest that the player will leave the club before the summer transfer window closes in eight days.
Canal+ has also suggested that Khedira is in Germany to negotiate his transfer to Bayern Munich, as a replacement for the injury Javi Martinez.
Real Madrid will face Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Friday evening at the Vicente Calderon, where Ancelotti also called up Angel Di Maria, who recently requested a transfer after rejecting a contract extension, to his 22-man squad.
