Barcelona midfielder, Ivan Rakitic was pleased with his side’s 3-0 win over Elche on Sunday evening at the Camp Nou and sees the team in fine form, especially Leo Messi.

In his post-match interview, Rakitic began by signing the praises of new teammate, four-time Ballon d’Or winner Leo Messi.

“Needless to repeat, that he’s the best player in the world, the best of all-time.  I enjoy training with him, he makes everything easier.

“The attack? We’re talking about the best players in the world at all those positions, everyone’s enjoying themselves.  When you have the desire and work hard like we do, everything comes easier.”

Rakitic went on to stress that he is not there to replace Xavi and that he’s worked hard for everything he’s earned in football.

“I see Xavi very calm, what I want to do is work and play my football, up until now, nobody’s every given me anything and I don’t think anybody is going to give me anything in football.  I’ll work very hard, to do the best I possibly can and we’ll prepare well. The rest will follow.”

Rakitic then spoke about Luis Enrique and what he’s brought to the team.

“I’ve already said that he works on every single detail, without a doubt.  We understand everything, we have some room for improvement but winning the first match is important, as is doing well in front of the fans.”
