Lim and Mendes meet to push through Enzo Pérez move to Valencia
Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly travelled to Singapore, to meet with Valencia owner Peter Lim and advance their move for Benfica midfielder, Enzo Pérez.
Linked with the club throughout the summer, Enzo Pérez arriving at Valencia from Benfica has been touted as a foregone conclusion for many, although no deal has yet been struck. That may now be about to change, with the end of the transfer window fast approaching and with the player seemingly keen to make the switch at last.
According to SuperDeporte, the man with his fingers in many footballing pies, agent Jorge Mendes, has journeyed to Singapore for a meeting with Peter Lim, trying to get the deal arranged once and for all. The pair are then expected to travel to Portugal, in order to finalise the move with Benfica directors, face to face.
Currently injured, Enzo Pérez is believed to be keen to secure his passage to Valencia, although it’s still not guaranteed that Benfica will accept the final proposal from Mendes and Lim. As such, the Singapore billionaire has apparently given Francesco Rufete and Roberto Ayala the green light to scour the market for alternative options, should the move for the Argentine midfielder eventually collapse.
Time is running short now and Valencia still have money to spend, with the midfield and possibly another striker being their priorities, before the transfer window slams shut.
