German club SC Paderborn 07 have officially announced the signing of central defender, Rafa López, who joins them from La Liga side Getafe.

Rafa has spent the last six seasons of his career at Getafe and featured in the opening match of the season, a 3-1 defeat at Celta Vigo, but has now opted to try his fortune in the Bundesliga.

Paderborn 07 have established an ambitious project, with the club keen to perform well in the German top-flight, following their promotion last season.

Their head coach, Andre Breitenreiter welcomed the signing of the Spaniard, explaining that “Rafa can help us immediately. With his experience and footballing background, he can bring more stability that we urgently need in the Bundesliga.”
