Valencia rescind contract of Hélder Postiga

by Tom Conn | Posted on Monday, September 1st, 2014

Valencia have rescinded the contract of Portuguese international striker, Helder Postiga, at a cost of €1.8 million, the cost of one year’s wages.

According to Cadena SER, Postiga is one of many Valencia players who will have their contracts rescinded today, but what makes Postiga’s unique is that he was signed for over €3 million just two years ago from Real Zaragoza, spent the last six months at Lazio and, in the end, has cost far more than he’s actually contributed to Los Che.

Valencia are now essentially paying half of his transfer fee to allow the 32-year-old to leave on a free transfer, where it is reported that he will now fly to Deportivo La Coruna, undergo his medical and sign a new contract with the Galicians before the transfer window closes at midnight.
