Brazilian playmaker Diego will rejoin German club Wolfsburg next season after not receiving a new offer from Atletico Madrid.

The 27-year-old has made it known that he wants a permanent move to the Vicente Calderon, but German club Wolfsburg have insisted that he wants the midfielder back in his side and no offer from the Spanish club has arrived.

Diego played an integral part in Atletico’s successful Europa League campaign, scoring in the final against Athletic Bilbao.

”I think that I will be at Wolfsburg next season again,” Diego told Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung.

”I still have two years on my contract.”

Diego joined Wolfsburg from Juventus for £16m in 2010, but after an unsuccessful first season, joined Atletico Madrid last summer.
