10 Barcelona players undergo surprise UEFA anti-doping testing
Barcelona’s training session on Tuesday saw 10 players selected for “random” testing by the UEFA anti-doping control ahead of their Champions League tie with Manchester City in two weeks.
Barcelona were preparing for their Copa del Rey semi-final tie against Villarreal on Wednesday, but several star players were selected for drug testing by UEFA.
After the training session various players were submitted to a UEFA anti-doping control. Pedro, Messi, Neymar, Rafinha, Bravo, Jordi Alba, Sergi Roberto, Mathieu, Munir and Sandro were chosen randomly to give blood and urine samples. It is a compulsory test for all sides competing in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Barcelona also saw the return of Martin Montoya, who did not attend Monday’s training due to the flu and is expected to start in next weekend’s match against Levante, while Dani Alves will get the nod to face Villarreal, as he’ll be suspended due to yellow card accumulation.
