Which Messi Copa del Rey goal was better?: Getafe ’07 or Athletic Bilbao ’15

Barcelona forward Leo Messi scored two goals to lead his side to their second title of the season, a 1-3 victory over Athletic Club Bilbao gave the blaugrana the Copa del Rey title but perhaps the highlight was the Argentine’s first goal and while it garnered world-wide praise, the question remains: was it his best?

In the 20th minute of Saturday’s win, Messi took the ball on the wing, dribbled past three defenders, stopped turned direction, dribbled past a few more and fired a shot that had no business being as accurate as it was, found a gap the size of Dani Alves’ tuft of hair to put his side up 1-0 en route to an historic Copa del Rey win.

However, the start of Messi’s legend began with a similar play in the 2006-07 Copa del Rey when the then 19-year-old ran past six defenders and beat the keeper and the last defender to put in a sensational goal.

While both are incredible, Saturday’s undoubtedly carried more weight as it helped the club to yet another title, but there’s nothing like your first and Messi’s run against Getafe is as sensational as you can get.

Yet, there can only be one winner, so which one was better?
