Neymar set to return from illness
Barcelona forward Neymar is set to play his first competitive match this season when the reigning La Liga champions entertain Malaga at the Camp Nou on Saturday.
The 23-year old Brazilian star has been suffering from mumps, which caused him to miss this month’s European and Spanish Super Cups, as well as last weekend’s 1-0 win against Athletic Bilbao.
Manager Luis Enrique revealed that Neymar has been given the all-clear to return to action and join Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez as part of Blaugrana’s vaunted three-pronged attack.
“He seems to be in very good shape and is practically recovered and in normal condition for a player who was unable to train for almost two weeks,” Enrique said, praising Neymar’s physical condition in the process.
“He is a player who weighs very little. He is very thin and he can get back to full fitness very quickly,” added the former Barca and Spain midfielder.
Barcelona also announced that Sergio Busquets, who was carted off the pitch in the Catalan’s win over Athletic, has been declared fight to play on Saturday after suffering the ankle knock.
