Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez and manager, Jose Mourinho have reportedly broken off negotiations with Tottenham over midfielder, Luka Modric, stating that Spurs president, Daniel Levy continued to raise the price of the player, even after the two sides had agreed to a fee of €35 million.

According to Croatian daily newspaper, Vecernji list, citing sources within the Madrid camp claims that Mourinho, disgusted by the antics of Levy, has abandoned the transfer negotiations all together.

Modric is now reportedly headed back to London, where he will rejoin the squad, but will probably not play in tomorrow`s opener against Newcastle United tomorrow evening.

Real Madrid will continue to prepare, as they have been all summer, without Modric, as they face Valencia in their La Liga opener on Sunday evening.

However, there are still two weeks remaining before the close of the transfer window and although Los Blancos could change their mind, it appears that they are ready to leave behind the drama and the player.
