16-year-old Cameroon striker Fabrica Olinga became the youngest La Liga goalscorer as his goal for Malaga secured a vital opening day win over promoted Celta Vigo.

Malaga began their La Liga campaign with a hard-fought victory against newly promoted Celta Vigo on Saturday evening.

Winger Joaquin came close within the opening 20 minutes, first with a free kick that was saved well by Celta keeper Javi Varas and then the former Valencia man sent a thunderous effort crashing off the crossbar.

The home side should have scored on the half hour mark but defender Andres Tunez sent his header just wide.

The Galicians then came close ten minutes into the second half when former Chelse midfielder Quique de Lucas hit the woodwork.

Malaga took that as an alarm bell and came back fighting with Isco sending a powerful shot off the upright.

The deadlock would eventually be broken seven minutes from time when substitute Diego Buonanotte crossed the ball for Fabrica Olinga and the 16-year-old scored.

Olinga who graduated from former Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’os football academy became La Liga’s youngest all-time scorer, aged 16 years and 98 days.
