Celta Vigo 2-0 Osasuna : Galician delight as hosts get first points

by Staff Writer | Posted on Saturday, September 1st, 2012

Newly-promoted Celta Vigo beat Osasuna 2-0 on Saturday afternoon to pick up their first points of the new season.

The visitors came in to the game after losing but putting in a good performance against Barcelona last week and they nearly took the lead early on but Joseba Llorente headed against the woodwork.

Celta who had been outclassed last week against Real Sociedad looked better and with their newly found confidence they took the lead.

Iago Aspas was on hand to head in his first goal of the season following good work and a brilliant cross from Augusto Fernandez.

Any chance of Osasuna, who had now began to look tired in the second half then vanished as Alejandrio Arribas was sent off for a second bookable offence and Celta made sure of the points when Mario Bermejo slotted past Andres Fernandrez late on.

Osasuna have now lost their opening three league games and find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table; Celta move to 11th.
