Valencia manager, Mauricio Pellegrino spoke to the media after his side`s 1-0 loss to Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Sunday evening.

Pellegrino admitted that the loss was heart-breaking, but praised the efforts of his squad.

“The result was a huge blow, but that`s football, it`s about effectiveness.

“It was difficult for us and for them, and the result came down to a corner.

‘We had our opportunities in the second half, but our players did well in the defensive half to limit Barcelona`s chances, we didn’t give up a goal from the attack position.

Pellegrino then commented on the disallowed goal by Victor Ruiz, which would have given Valencia the equaliser.

“I have not seen the play, but from what I’ve been told it was a millimeter in either direction.

“We didn`t take away anything, but I’m happy with the team`s performance, we will be in a lot of games if we continue to play like this.”

Valencia now go into the international break, where they will have less than two weeks to practice and become a more cohesive squad, with play resuming against newcomers, Celta Vigo on 16th September.
