Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has asked Athletic Bilbao to keep him informed of any developments involving striker Fernando Llorente, according to reports in Spain.

The Spanish international scored 29 goals for Athletic last season, helping them to the Europa League and Copa del Rey final’s but has since made only one start this season after refusing to sign a new contract.

Llorente’s deal expires next summer and his willingness to leave the Basque club has angered club official’s, prompting a possible cut-price exit in January.

Arsenal boss Wenger is extremely interested as he looks to bolster his attacking options for a title push this season.

Marca have reported that Wenger has spoken with Athletic and has asked to be kept informed of any developments involving the 27-year-old.
