Jose Mourinho spoke to the French magazine about the upcoming Ballon D’Or award.

” It is ridiculous that Messi has won 4 Ballon D’Ors and Cristiano only one.” he stated.

“The Ballon D’Or must be given to the best players, people say that that is either Cristiano or Messi. But I ask you, if the two are equal, how has one won it four times and the other only once? There it is.”

Mourinho continued by questioning Messi’s trophy record over the past year and went on to defend Ronaldo’s demeanour and conduct.

“Moreover: how can you win the Ballon without having won anything important? I’m not talking about the Intercontinental Cup, which I wouldn’t want to play in, nor do I speak of the Supercopa, both are tiny competitions.”

“Talk to me about big titles: one was won by Chelsea and the other was won by Madrid. One was European champion and the other won the best league in the world. Therefore, if Cristiano does not win the Ballon D’Or this year, it is because he isn’t very friendly, because he doesn’t sell his image well, and because he does not give interviews to apologize for arguing with a colleague in the field … “, said Mourinho in defence of the Real Madrid winger.
