A number of Real Madrid’s more senior players have been left angered by Jose Mourinho’s selection choices for the Champions League defeat to Dortmund in midweek.

Marca has reported that according to club sources, many of Madrid’s players are unhappy with certain selection choices and have voiced their disapproval to Mourinho.

The act is something that is not uncommon at the club with similar situation happening last season when Fabio Coentrao was selected at right back for the El Clasico against Barcelona and Hamit Altintop and Ricardo Carvalho were also selected for the same game.

Wednesday’s game saw Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien used at left-back due to the injuries of Coentrao and Brazilian Marcelo, leaving many of the club’s fans and senior players angered at the lack of chances for youngsters like Nacho Fernandez.

Sami Khedira who was taken off injured against the Bundesliga outfit gave Mourinho a chance to correct things as switched Albiol to the right, with Ramos on the left but Luka Modric was brought on instead.

Mourinho’s final substitution in that match also confused many when he took off French striker Karim Benzema when duo Mesut Ozil and Angel di Maria were tired.
