Tello contract talks stall as winger demands release clause

by Staff Writer | Posted on Thursday, November 1st, 2012

Contract talks between Barcelona and Cristian Tello have hit a stand still after the winger demanded a release clause that reflects his ability.

Despite an agreement being reached over Tello’s salary and duration of a new contract, problems have now arisen over a release clause in the wingers contract.

Barcelona famously attach massive release clauses to the contracts of their players to stop European clubs attempting to sign them but Tello is demanding his release clause reflects his ability.

Several teams across Europe expressed an interest in the former Barcelona B youngster but Tello chose not to leave the club and is happy to sign a new contract.

His current deal expires on June 30th next year which would leave him open to negotiations with another club should the situation not be sorted.

The Catalan club are also in discussions with Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernandez and Lionel Messi about extended deals.
