Atletico Madrid returned to winning ways as they saw off the challenge of Getafe thanks to goals from Adrian and Arda Turan.

Following back-to-back defeats to Valencia and Academica [Europa League], Atletico Madrid returned to familiar winning ways as Diego Simeone’s men proved too strong for city neighbours Getafe.

Raul Garcia almost put the hosts in front within the opening 10 minutes but his close range headers went just wide but it wasnt long until Simeone’s side took the lead.

The lively Adrian on hand to tap home Gabi’s clipped through ball.

Getafe struggled to match Atleti in the first half and it was moments before half-time that the home side doubled the advantage.

Arda Turan danced his way past the Getafe defenders before beating keeper Moya and tapping the ball into the empty net.

Chances fell to both Raul Garcia and the unusually quiet Radamel Falcao in the second half but without any threat from the visitors, Atletico held on to keep the pressure on Barcelona.
