Mallorca manager, Joaquin Caparros wants to get the maximum performance from last summer`s big signing, winger Giovani Dos Santos, and the manager feels that the Mexican international`s weight is one of the reasons he has struggled with injury this season.
According to the Diario de Mallorca, Caparros has placed Dos Santos on a strict dietary regimen, not necessarily because he is overweight, but in order for him to get leaner, in hopes of increasing his explosiveness, thus making it easier for the winger to create space in the open field.
Dos Santos made the move from Tottenham last summer and has struggled to overcome and injury he sustained at the Summer Olympics and despite making his debut against Sevilla and scoring two assists, he re-aggravated the injury and has been sidelined for over three weeks.
Caparros still remains very high on the player, but his inability to train regularly and recover from injury is making it increasingly difficult for him to get consistent minutes and get in game-shape.
