Ibra will not vote for Messi in Ballon d’Or
Swedish International and PSG front man Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reignited the fued with ex Barca team-mate Lionel Messi by declaring that he has no intention in voting for him to win this years Ballon d’Or award.
As captain of his country, the Swede is entitled to a vote but will definitely not be putting a x against the name of Messi. In an outburst that smacked of jealousy he said: “How many times have I won and how may times has Messi? Two? Three? If the jury wants to be a little more fair, they should give it away this time”.
Messi for his part will battle it out with team-mate Andres Iniesta and Madrid nemesis Cristiano Ronaldo. With many expecting Barca’s number 10 to pick up the award for the 4th successive year, it might therefore come as somewhat of a surprise if he did not receive the accolade.
However this is to do a disservice to both Ronaldo and Iniesta, both of whom have played fantastically well over the last 12 months and some would say are equally deserving of the prestigious award. The Ballor d’Or winner will be announced on January 7 in Zurich.
