Two members of the Mallorca board of directors, Utz Claassen, who has had a running feud with Cladera for several years, and Biel Cerda have called a shareholder’s meeting for 29th January, to discuss Cladera’s position.
However, Cladera is holding a grudge, admitting that the position takes a toll and it comes as a relief in some ways, but went on to say that he will miss the club.
“I’m not sad because working in a club is very exhausting with lots of travel and meetings. In some ways, I feel free, but I repeat that it has been an honour to be the president of Real Mallorca.
“I do not feel betrayed by anyone, this is life.”
Cladera, as shareholder at the time of his appointment in September 2010, was forced to step down to the position for personal reasons, after his first year in charge.
However, the board convinced him to stay but it was only a matter of time before the board formed factions, with Claassen’s side reporting Cladera and Llorenc Serra for fraud and the power struggle continued.
It now appears likely that with Cladera’s eventual sacking, Claassen will take over in the role as club president.
