Real Betis manager, Pepe Mel admitted that his team had a bit of luck in their 0-1 win over Celta Vigo on Monday evening and was thankful that they didn’t have a day like they did against Barcelona last weekend.

Pepe MelIn his post-match press conference, Mel admitted that their opponents, Celta Vigo did not deserve to lose and praised the Galicians for their efforts, as well as his own squad.

“Today we had a bit of luck to win because Celta did not deserve to lose.  We did not deserve to lose against Barcelona last weekend and today could have easily been a 1-1 draw, 0-0 or 2-2.

“Our top priority is survival.  We are a club with financial problems and we have a lot of young people.  Now we are living the dream, we have to hold onto it and not let it go.

“It would be wonderful to break the 30 point barrier before the winter break because it would put us very close to our main goal which is survival.  The most important thing is to remain in the Primera.

“Our next match against Mallorca will be a difficult game, to win we need to have at least the same intensity we showed today.  Our players made a great effort today, I’m very happy.

“Celta are a team that works hard and plays good football, it’s a shame they didn’t have more luck in front of the goal because they could have come away with one more point.”
