Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has reflected upon his side’s year before touching Friday’s game against Celta Vigo at Vicente Calderon.

simeoneSimeone was appointed this time last year as Atletico coach and turned a disastrous season into a successful one, winning the Europa League and European Super Cup before beginning this campaign.

Since the start of the season, Atleti have stormed into second place, sandwiched between Barcelona in first and Real Madrid in third and Simeone is extremely proud of his side’s efforts.

“We are halfway through the championship and we want to continue in the same line,” he told AS.

“I feel an enormous happiness because when we arrived the situation wasn’t easy and the players have made a great effort to be able to be competitive.

“The most difficult thing is to maintain the stability.

“When the club makes such a huge effort, the players have to have the capacity to maintain the stability necessary to continue improving.

“Our objective is to be competitive in everything.”
